Test one: the file matches the product that was sold

A production file must represent a known physical product. Confirm trim width and height, orientation, bleed on every required edge, safe-content guidance, number and order of sides, and any corner or shape constraints. The design canvas should come from the product configuration rather than asking the customer to remember dimensions. If the storefront changes the selected size, the editor and price should not continue using stale assumptions.

Vibrance binds each scene to a product specification and derives export dimensions from that specification. Current card formats include standard, slim, super-slim, and credit-card sizes. Enabled front and back scenes determine side output, while configured bleed expands production dimensions. In a validation session, measure the resulting PDF page, confirm trim and bleed interpretation, impose it through the normal workflow, and compare it with an accepted reference job. Repeat for every product variant before the variant is available to customers.

Test two: every placed asset is fit at final size

A high-resolution export setting cannot invent source detail. The system should know the natural pixel dimensions of raster assets and their final placed dimensions. It should make small images actionable before approval. It should also define what happens when a logo arrives as a screenshot, when transparency is present, when a remote asset becomes unavailable, or when a crop reveals an unintended area. For text, ask whether fonts are embedded, substituted, outlined, or rendered another way.

Vibrance calculates approximate required pixels at a 300 dpi target and treats an undersized placed image as blocking. The print payload inventories asset IDs, hashes, source dimensions, placement, transparency indicators, and font usage. Current rendering tests check that tested production PDFs do not retain live font resources. Those implementation facts are stronger than a generic high-resolution claim, but the plant still needs visual regression tests for logos, small type, QR codes, gradients, images, patterns, and transparency across supported output paths.

Test three: important design content remains structured

AI-generated text inside an image is hard to trust and harder to correct. A production-oriented design should keep factual text, supplied logos, shapes, and machine-relevant regions independently addressable for as long as practical. Structure supports editing, accessibility, preflight, version comparison, and separation. It also lets the renderer choose appropriate vector, text-outline, or raster treatment at output rather than flattening the whole design prematurely.

Vibrance uses scene elements for text, images, shapes, patterns, and QR codes. Elements have roles, geometry, stacking, style, visibility, and production flags. The production payload carries object-level bounding boxes, transforms, colors, source types, and plate intent. To test a competitor, do not ask only whether the design is editable. Change one letter, move one logo, recolor one shape, and remove one finish without disturbing unrelated content. Then compare the re-exported file with the first version and confirm that only intended changes occurred.

Test four: color has a named destination

The phrase CMYK PDF is incomplete. Different press conditions and substrates have different color behavior and gamuts. A color-managed workflow needs an agreed destination or output intent, a policy for source RGB and CMYK, black handling, transparency blending, overprint, and spot colors. PDF/X can improve exchange discipline, but the selected standard and profile still need to match the receiving workflow. A visually pleasing browser preview cannot certify those conditions.

Vibrance’s current print payload specifies CMYK production intent and an output-profile identifier, and rendering tests inspect for the absence of DeviceRGB resources in tested production output. However, the marketing site does not claim present PDF/X certification; the implementation identifies PDF/X-1a as a future target. A serious pilot should use the printer’s own reference colors, rich and single-channel black, small reverse type, gradients, transparent objects, and supplied images. Inspect separations and process the file through the real RIP before declaring the color path accepted.

Test five: every manufacturing process has explicit artwork

Premium finishing cannot live only in an order note or visual mockup. Foil, Spot UV, blind UV, white ink, cut, and other processes need unambiguous artwork and rules. Confirm mask polarity, solid coverage, vector preservation where required, minimum line and gap size, whether normal ink prints beneath the effect, and how multiple plates are named. A system should prevent combinations the vendor cannot manufacture or route them to review.

Vibrance gives elements ink, UV, foil, blind-UV, and white-ink intent. It normalizes mutually exclusive modes, blocks foil and UV on the same element, and treats foil as mask-only in the current workflow. Export planning creates dedicated grayscale mask jobs. A printer must still configure process-specific constraints and review samples. Output a difficult mark with small counters and fine lines, compare it with your existing plate-preparation standard, and document any required expansion, contraction, simplification, or coverage threshold.

Tests six and seven: approval is traceable and the plant accepts the result

The correct file is the file generated from the approved project state. Confirm that each proof identifies or resolves to a version, that changes after approval are visible, and that output can be regenerated consistently. Keep customer content approval separate from technical production acceptance. A customer can approve the wrong phone number; an operator can approve a perfect mask attached to unapproved content. Both gates matter.

Finally, run representative output through the complete plant workflow. Use normal, edge-case, and premium jobs. Inspect in preflight software, render through the RIP, and produce physical samples when the risk justifies it. Record approved settings and files as regression fixtures. Print-ready should mean accepted for a documented destination, not merely downloaded without an error.

What does print-ready mean in Vibrance?

It means the project can produce configured high-quality production artwork and applicable masks from a structured scene after common checks. It does not mean every unconfigured plant must accept every file. The partner validates output and review rules for its own production environment.

Is a 300 dpi PDF automatically print-ready?

No. DPI applies meaningfully to raster content at a placed size. A PDF also needs correct geometry, asset and font handling, color, transparency, overprint, separations, content approval, and acceptance by the receiving workflow. Vector content is not evaluated by the same raster-resolution rule.

Does Vibrance currently guarantee PDF/X-1a?

No such guarantee is made here. The current payload names high-quality print as its production target and records PDF/X-1a as a future target. Vendors should specify the required PDF standard and validate current output during technical discovery.
